They swapped it out for another brand new system.
Now as a solution I took it to Best Buy’s geek squad which I purchased and they basically had no idea what’s wrong.
I will say that I plugged in the right speaker and it would “charge” there but the second I unplug or put into the SB it doesn’t recognize nor turn on. I hope that helps and please share this info if anybody else is looking for options with the standby issue on the JBL soundbar.Įverything you’re saying is exactly the process I went through to try fixing it. This is the option I’m using because that’s the least amount of work, and I have an LG CX TV which has an incredibly fast processor that adds only about 5-8 seconds longer to start up. The soundbar will remain on standby until you turn the TV WiFi switch on and the TV itself. This way, the TV is completely off and won't pass any signals to start the JBL randomly. Plug in your TV to a WiFi switch and once you’re done watching TV, turn it off with the TV remote and then the WiFi switch with whatever it’s using (Alexa, Google, Smart Life, etc.) The bar will then go back to its default standby mode again.

The JBL will still show up on your devices but won’t start the bar.īut on the plus side, the bar will turn on when you turn the TV on in Eco mode and will reconnect to the WiFi and surrounds automatically but it does take a couple of seconds for all of that.

In Eco mode, the wireless connections are disabled which means you won’t be able to use Chromecast, AirPlay or Bluetooth from your devices. This might seem like the solution but there is a big con. The soundbar will go into Eco mode and it will stay on standby until you turn the TV on. After that press the power button on the JBL remote. I don't recommend this option because over time you may damage the HDMI port on whichever side you are removing from.Īfter turning the TV off, turn on the soundbar again and then on the JBL remote, hold mute for 5 seconds and then right after, hold the Bluetooth button for 5 seconds. No signal passes to the soundbar so it will remain on standby.
Option 1: Physically disconnect the HDMI cable None of them ideal but at least they work. So, I have narrowed down to 3 solutions that might work. But the problem is that the soundbar wakes up randomly even after turning the TV off due to excess current being passed through the HDMI cable, which prevents the rears being charged. As others have said, the soundbar has to be in standby to charge the rears.
